The SHARP LIGHT laser is a revolutionary Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser that can remove any colour or type of tattoo, whether it was done by a professional or amateur. The unwanted tattoo is targeted by the device which emits a beam of intense light at a specific wavelength of 1064nm. This breaks the ink down into manageable particles that are then eliminated naturally by the body’s filtration system. Only the dye is targeted by the SHARP LIGHT laser – not the skin. As a result, there is very little risk of scarring or damage. In fact, the SHARP LIGHT is so safe and effective that even pigmented lesions can be treated!

The Removal

Over the course of a few short series of sessions, the targeted tattoo will gradually fade and then disappear. A rainbow of colours can be targeted with our tattoo removal system. Though the SHARP LIGHT Laser works best on darker colours such as black and blue, lighter colours such as green and yellow can also be targeted effectively. However, with lighter colours, more sessions may be required.

The Procedure

Before undergoing the laser tattoo removal procedure at Wellsprings Medical Spa, you will be asked to visit our patient consultant for a complimentary consultation to determine whether this will be effective for your situation.

The SHARP LIGHT laser will direct short bursts of light at the unwanted tattoo. Each pulse may create a sensation that is similar to a quick snap from a rubber band. Though the procedure is relatively painless and does not require anesthesia, a topical anesthesia may be applied at the onset of the session to reduce discomfort. Most who have undergone the procedure believe that getting a tattoo is actually more painful than getting rid of it with the SHARP LIGHT.The length of the procedure varies depending on size, colour, and depth of the ink.

Recovery from a session is fairly quick. The treated area will be dressed with antibacterial ointment immediately following the procedure and the area should be kept clean to reduce the risk of infection. Pinpoint bleeding in the treated area may occasionally occur. Any scabs that form should not be picked or scratched.
